Live Casino Games at Red Shores
Most of the real live casino buzz sits in Charlottetown. This is the busier venue, at 58 Kensington Road, attached directly to the Eastlink Centre, with a full gaming floor. You get close to 200 slot machines plus a solid mix of table games that our team walked and checked in person. On the floor right now you will find five main categories running: Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Baccarat, Poker, and Roulette.
One thing we always flag for visitors: the full lineup is not on every single day.
Blackjack, UTH, and Baccarat are spread across the week with daily availability, just with different opening times. Poker tables and live Roulette only come into play on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 6:00 pm. If you want the casino at full tilt - all tables open, live racing in the background, buffet serving - we usually suggest aiming for Thursday or Saturday. Friday still has the complete table selection from 6:00 pm, but you will not have live races on track that night, which for a lot of guests is fine for a night out.
Charlottetown Casino Hours
| Day | Slots Hours | Table Games Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday | 11:00 am - 1:00 am | Blackjack, UTH, Baccarat available |
| Monday - Wednesday | 11:00 am - 1:00 am | Blackjack, UTH, Baccarat available |
| Thursday | 11:00 am - 2:00 am | All tables including Poker and Roulette from 6:00 pm |
| Friday | 11:00 am - 2:00 am | All tables including Poker and Roulette from 6:00 pm |
| Saturday | 11:00 am - 2:00 am | All tables including Poker and Roulette from 6:00 pm |
Red Shores at Summerside, at 55 Greenwood Drive and connected to Credit Union Place, has a more compact gaming area. It works well for slots and a quick visit, but it does not mirror Charlottetown for live tables. Hours in Summerside run Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 am. If having every table category open is a priority, Charlottetown is the location we point people to first.
Planning a Race Night Visit
Race nights in Charlottetown feel very different from a standard casino session. The place picks up early, the buffet opens, and the simulcast theatre starts to fill as the card gets closer to post time. The casino floor stays active right through. From our experience, coming in a bit earlier than your first instinct is usually the smarter move, especially if sitting in on Poker or Roulette matters to you.
A typical Thursday or Saturday visit with racing and live tables often goes something like this:
- Start with a quick check of redshores.ca before you leave home. Confirm if it is a live race night and whether the buffet is scheduled.
- Aim to arrive at 58 Kensington Road before 6:00 pm if you want first pick at Poker or Roulette seats, ahead of the post-race and dinner crowd.
- Bring valid government-issued photo ID. The minimum age for all Atlantic Lottery gaming products at Red Shores is 19 years, and floor staff will ask when needed.
- When you get to the floor, ask staff about current table minimums. Limits can move a bit from session to session.
- If you plan to eat on-site, note the race night buffet schedule: Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Reservations are by phone at 902-620-4264, with pricing at $29.95 plus taxes.
- After your meal, both the casino floor and the simulcast theatre sit within the same complex, so you can drift between them easily without stepping outside.
- Before you call it a night, cash out any winning tickets or chips at the cashier while the windows are still open.
One small but useful habit that applies not only here. When you walk into a venue for the first time on a busier night, take three minutes and make a slow lap of the floor before settling in anywhere. You get a better sense of where the live action really is, which pits are open, and which tables have the kind of crowd you want to play with.
Harness Racing and Pari-Mutuel Betting
Red Shores has always been rooted in harness racing, long before the current casino setups. The Charlottetown Driving Park goes back to 1888, making it one of the oldest continuously operating harness tracks in Atlantic Canada. Summerside Raceway started even a bit earlier, in 1886. This is more than a bit of history on the wall - it shapes how the whole property runs day to day, with racing as the anchor piece and gaming, dining, and events built around it.
Live racing in Charlottetown usually runs Thursday evenings with a first post around 6:30 pm, and Saturday evenings with post time near 6:00 pm. On race days, the race office opens three hours before the first post and can be reached at 902-629-6634 or 902-629-6636 if you need information. On non-race days, regular office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Pari-mutuel wagering at Red Shores follows the familiar North American setup. You can bet Win, Place, and Show, as well as Exacta and Trifecta, and multi-race plays like Pick 4 and Pick 5. There is also Super High Five alongside other exotics across several races. On some dates, Red Shores promotes specific pool guarantees, including a $2,000 guaranteed Pick Five pool with a 15% takeout rate. That 15% figure sits lower than usual for this type of product, which is worth remembering if you compare value across different tracks or outlets.
Races are broadcast live on YouTube under “Red Shores Racetrack & Casino Live Stream”. It works well if you want to follow the card from home, check the flow of a meet before heading in, or listen to commentary before you commit to a wager.

Two Venues, One Brand
Two Venues, One Brand
Red Shores Racetrack & Casino operates at two locations in Prince Edward Island: the flagship at 58 Kensington Road in Charlottetown, attached to Eastlink Centre, and a second venue at 55 Greenwood Drive in Summerside, attached to Credit Union Place.
The Charlottetown site carries the larger gaming floor, with close to 200 slot machines and five table game categories - Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Baccarat, Poker, and Roulette. Summerside runs a smaller floor with its own schedule: Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Friday through Saturday from 11:00 am to 1:00 am. Both venues are connected to Atlantic Lottery gaming products, and visitors must be 19 or older to purchase, play, or redeem any gaming products at either location.
Using the Simulcast Theatre
The simulcast theatre in Charlottetown is separate from the main casino floor, but located under the same roof, so you move between them in a couple of minutes. The room is built around off-track betting for harness and other racing events from outside venues, which means your wagering options go far past the local card. That helps on days when the Charlottetown schedule is light or when you simply have a preference for another track.
The routine is simple. First you check the daily simulcast schedule on the in-room screens. From there, place your bets at the staffed wagering windows or at the self-service terminals if you prefer. Keep every ticket stub until you know the result - winning tickets need to be presented for payment at the window before the posted redemption cut-off. Standard bet types are all there: Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, Pick 4, Pick 5.
If you want to clarify details on a specific pool or ask whether there are guarantees in place on a given race day, race office staff at 902-629-6634 are the right contact point. They hold the most current information on guaranteed pools and how the numbers are shaping up.
Age Requirements and Access
All gaming activity at Red Shores - including slot machines, all live table games, and any pari-mutuel wagering - operates under Atlantic Lottery Corporation rules. The minimum age at both Charlottetown and Summerside is 19 years old, with no exceptions to that policy. Floor teams are trained and authorized to request ID from anyone who appears close to that age threshold, and the approach is applied the same way in both properties.
Carry valid government-issued photo ID with you any time you plan to spend time on the gaming floor or in the wagering areas. It is the easiest way to avoid delays or awkward moments at the tables, the cage, or the betting windows.
